Management
Founder und managing director of ARES Advisors is the internationally experienced business economist Alexander Schmitt.
After completing a commercial apprenticeship and subsequently studying business administration, he began his career in 2002 as an assistant to the managing partner of an international supplier group near Stuttgart. During this time, Alexander not only acquired a deep technical understanding but also benefited from his long-term experience supervising the group’s foreign subsidiaries – most recently as CFO in North America.
Before founding ARES Advisors, he moved into corporate consulting as a restructuring expert in 2009 and worked for international Big4 accounting firms and other renowned strategy consultancies.
In 2016, he founded the Düsseldorf Restructuring Round Table – a network of over 400 restructuring and turnaround experts in the DACH region.
His industry focuses are: automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, manufacturing industry (electrical, wood, plastics, metal), wholesale and retail trade, as well as logistics.

The ARES team, led by Alexander Schmitt, boasts over 30 years of experience in the restructuring and turnaround of medium-sized companies, as well as international industry expertise up to the C-level. This means we not only deliver fast, high-quality results but also ensure their implementation! We place great importance on selecting and differentiating our teams to respond optimally to each project's requirements.

Our consultancy consists of an international team of business consultants experienced in restructuring and turnaround, with long-standing expertise in various industries.
We support companies and investors in strategic alignment, designing and implementing turnaround measures in complex financing and restructuring situations, as well as ensuring the required financing.
Additionally, we assist our clients as interim managers by temporarily taking over management functions in corporate roles, such as restructuring management in insolvency proceedings or overall project management in change processes.
Our network of regularly involved restructuring actors (financing partners, lawyers, insolvency administrators, authorities, etc.) allows us to achieve short communication paths, efficient communication, and a professional approach at all levels.
